Use dashboard widgets to collect and display a wide range of information. Use them to provide an overview of one or more apps within Quickbase, as well as from external sources.
Add different buttons and reports to your dashboard including:
- Reports—display a summary of data and information
- Charts
- Table reports
- Summary reports
- KPI reports
- Buttons—open a link
- Reports
- Other Quickbase pages
- A web URL
- A button that creates records
- An embedded web page from an application or service
- Rich text widgets that contain stylized text
- Search widgets that search records and information in other apps
Add a widget
To add a widget:
- Select the Add widget button on the toolbar.
If you haven't upgraded your dashboard, hover over an empty cell in your dashboard, and then select the plus (+) icon. - Select a widget type.
- Configure the settings for the widget in the Customize tab.
Use the insert widget below button to add a widget of the same width directly below the current widget. If the widget type of widget added needs to be bigger, such as a table report widget under a KPI widget, the new widget is the minimum width for that type.
Charts and KPI widgets
Different chart types include:
- Bar chart
- Stacked bar chart
- Horizontal bar chart
- Horizontal stacked bar chart
- Waterfall chart
- Line chart
- Line and bar chart
- Area chart
- Pie chart
- Funnel chart
- Scatter chart
- Bubble chart

Add a KPI widget
- When you add a gauge chart report, go to the KPI styling options.
- Choose to display the widget as a circle gauge or a number.
- Configure other options like title, color, target metric, and delta change.
If you show the delta change, use the Date field for comparison field to select the time range for the delta comparison. - Use the scale picker to select the scale the number represents, and then add a description.
- Select Add to dashboard.
This immediately adds the widget to the dashboard in edit mode, and you can change the size and placement. Make changes any time to widgets using the Configure widget button on the widget.
Add reports and charts to a report widget
These options are for things like table reports, timeline reports, summary, kanban, and map reports.
After you add a report widget, you select the report to add to the widget. Select the table for the report, and then select the report.
This shows a preview of the report that you can customize with things like title options. This includes setting a custom title or using the Show title checkbox to control if the title displays.
For calendar reports, there are more options including:
- A custom title
- Show or hide weekend days
- Default view as day, week, or month
Search widgets
Add one or many Search widgets to a dashboard to quickly access a range of information. You can configure search widgets to display data from tables in any app you can access.
When you add a Search widget, you can select a variety of options to configure the set of information you’d like to search:
- Fields: Choose from All searchable fields, From a table, Selected fields from a table, or A report
- Search type: Choose from Allow partial matches, Match exact results, or Allow user to choose
- Show results: In a popup window or In a new window
- Customization: Configure your report with Show title, Show hint text, or Add a color
Calendar widgets
Add a Calendar widget to your dashboard to see events in days, weeks, and months. Once you add the widget to your dashboard, you can drag and drop elements to resize them, and use dashboard filters to find specific segments of events.
There are a few restrictions to dragging and dropping. Events only resize if:
- Both the start and end fields are standard date or date-time types.
- Both start and end fields are formatted to allow editing.
- They are not derived fields or formula fields. You can’t drag or drop a derived or formula field.
Expand widgets
You can expand widgets to look at data on your dashboard more closely, or to present to a team. To expand a widget:
- Select the expand iconin a widget’s menu or in the upper right of the dashboard to open an expanded view of a widget.
- Use your mouse or keyboard to toggle through the expanded view.
You can only expand reports, rich text, and embedded web pages as widgets on your dashboard.
Duplicate and move widgets
Duplicate a widget to create a new widget based on an existing one. After you duplicate a widget, you can move it to a different spot on the same tab or to a different tab. Widgets are added directly below the one they're a duplicate of.
You can move any widget between tabs by selecting Move to tab in the widget menu, and then selecting a tab. This removes the widget from the current tab, and adds it to the other tab.
To duplicate a widget:
- Open the menu for a widget.
- Select Duplicate.
This creates a new widget.
Filter reports
When you add a report widget to your dashboard, you can add filters that dynamically filter the report results you see. You can use date and text fields from any report that you include on your dashboard.
For example, a user in the manufacturing field could filter their reports to display all open issues or losses by a specific product line or facility.
To filter reports:
- Select the Add filter button .
- Select Date range, Text, or User from the filter type.
- Under Choose reports and field, select a field to base your filter on. This determines what is displayed when your filter is active.
- Select Save to dashboard. The active filters will appear at the top of your dashboard.
- To adjust the filter, select it and choose another date range or field. Then select Apply.
- To clear the filters, select Clear all. To revert to the original filter date range, use the revert icon . To remove all the text fields from your filter, use the X icon.
