This article explains how realm admins and account admins can set up service accounts to manage pipelines in a realm.
Individual users create, edit, run, and stop pipelines. For a group of users to manage pipelines, use a service account. Service accounts provide a solution for collaboration in pipelines by assigning individual users to a service account.
If you have already set up a dedicated user account to manage pipelines, consider converting it to a service account. This eliminates password sharing between employees and increases visibility into which users are taking action under the account. Learn more in Setting up service accounts.
Best practices for using service accounts with pipelines
- All users building and managing pipelines should use a service account for collaboration and security.
- Limit the number of users assigned to a service account. When a user no longer needs access to the service account, remove them.
- Create multiple service accounts for different use cases, for example managing different sets of pipelines.
