Quickbase lets you create reports that find records with dates that are relative to the current date. For instance, you can create a report that finds records with dates that occur within the next month, within the last year, or sometime during the last week. (Learn more about reporting on relative dates.)
For calendar years and months, Quickbase uses the Western calendar. In addition, fiscal years can vary from organization to organization. And, different organizations may want define the start of the work week differently; one company may define the work week from Sunday through Saturday; others may set a work week starting on Monday.
Because of this variance, Quickbase allows application managers to customize the calendar for an application by setting the first day of the week and the first month of the fiscal year. Application managers can also select whether the fiscal year is based on the first or last month of the fiscal year. Note that this setting is used only for timeline reports.
Setting the first day of the week
Application managers can define the first day of the week for the application; Quickbase then defines the week as beginning at 12:00:00 a.m. on the day specified and continuing for seven full days, ending at 11:59:59 p.m. on the seventh day.
If application managers do not set the first day of the week, Quickbase uses Sunday at 12:00:00 a.m. as the default.
To set the first day of the week:
-
Open the application, then click Settings.
-
Click App properties.
Click Advanced settings to expand the section.
-
In the Date/Time Options section, select the day that you want in the First day of the week list.
-
Click Save.
Defining the fiscal year
Application managers can define the first month of the fiscal year for the application. Quickbase uses that date to define the fiscal quarters and fiscal year. The first quarter begins at 12:00:00 a.m. on the first day of the month specified and continues for three complete months, ending at 11:59:59 on the last day of the third month. The following three fiscal quarters are each 3-month time periods beginning immediately after the previous fiscal quarter ends.
If application managers do not set the first month of the fiscal year, Quickbase uses the calendar year as the fiscal year.
Application managers can also define whether the first or last month determines the year of the fiscal year. This setting is used only for timeline reports. For example, a company's fiscal year runs from August 2010 through July 2011. If the fiscal year is based on the first month, then the fiscal year is 2010. If the fiscal year is based on the last month, then the fiscal year is 2011.
To define the fiscal year:
-
Open the application, then click Settings.
-
Click App properties.
-
Click Advanced settings to expand the selection.
-
In the Date/Time Options section, make a selection in the First month of fiscal year list.
-
Make a selection in the Year based on (First/Last) month of fiscal year list.
