What is the AI Smart Builder?
Quickbase's Artificial Intelligence (AI) Smart Builder can turn answers to a simple set of questions into a custom app. It pairs natural language processing with proprietary technology to create an app with tables, table relationships, sample data, reports, and a dashboard.
AI Smart Builder is available to all customers and is turned on by default. Accounts on Business and Enterprise plans can access the Admin Console to enable/disable Generative AI features. Accounts on Team plans may opt-out by having a Realm admin submit a tech support ticket.
Create an app
You can find Quickbase AI in the global bar or on the My apps page.
From the global bar:
- Open Quickbase AI
from the global bar.
- Choose Generate an app.
From the My apps page:
1. Go to the My apps page.
2. Select Create new app.
3. Choose Use the AI Smart Builder.
Answer questions with as much detail as possible to help Quickbase AI generate the app you need and select Create.
Tips to create great apps with Quickbase AI
Here are some tips to help you make an app that meets your needs:
- Write as you normally do. There's no correct way to answer the questions—if you'd like to use long sentences or write in short lists, go ahead!
- Answer all of the questions and add as much detail as you can.
- Avoid non-English characters and inappropriate language like swear words.
- Don't enter information that could be sensitive or private.
These are some examples of answers that created successful apps. All of them started with Construction as the industry:

Quickbase AI usage limits
Only one app can be built per user at a time. Also, there's a system-wide limit that can be reached if there's high demand for this feature. If you receive an error usage limit error, wait a few minutes and try again.
