What is the AI Smart Builder?
Quickbase's AI-powered Smart Builder can turn answers to a simple set of questions into a custom app. It pairs natural language processing with proprietary technology to create an app with tables, table relationships, sample data, reports, and a dashboard.
Smart Builder is available to all customers and is turned on by default. Admins can turn Smart Builder off for their realms. Navigate to the Policies page in the Admin Console and uncheck Allow generative AI features.
Smart Builder is available to all customers, across all plans. It is enabled by default on new and existing accounts. Realm Admins may enable/disable Gen AI features depending on their account plan.
Accounts on Business and Enterprise plans can access the Admin Console to enable/disable Generative AI features. Accounts on Team plans may opt-out by having a Realm admin submit a tech support ticket.
Tips to create great apps with Smart Builder
Here are some tips to help you make an app that meets your needs using the Smart Builder:
- Write as you normally do. There's no correct way to answer the Smart Builder questions—if you'd like to use long sentences or write in short lists, go ahead!
- Answer all of the questions and add as much detail as you can.
- Avoid non-English characters and inappropriate language like swear words.
- Don't enter information that could be sensitive or private.
These are some examples of answers to the Smart Builder prompts that created robust, successful apps. All of them started with Construction as the industry:

Smart Builder limits
Usage limits are in place for Smart Builder. Currently, only one app can be built per user at a time. Also, there's a system-wide limit that can be reached if there's high demand for this feature. If you receive an error or Smart Builder times out, wait a few minutes and try again.
