Change who custom emails come from
By default, custom emails come from notify.quickbase.com. You can change the From field to include other user options. To choose a different option, select the down arrow in the From field.
In addition to notify.quickbase.com, you can also choose one of these options for email senders:
- The custom email owner
- The user triggering the record change
- User fields in the table
What happens when you select a user in the From field
When you add a user to the From field, Quickbase makes two changes:
- Adds the user's email to the beginning of the send address of the email
- Changes the Reply To value of the email to the user's email
This section covers these changes in more detail.
Add the user's email in front of notify.quickbase.com
When you add a user to the From field, most email clients show the email sender as the user specified in the email builder. For example, the address the email comes from looks something like:
person@quickbase.com (via Quickbase) <notify@quickbase.com>
However, you are not actually changing the address that sends the emails. Emails always come from notify.quickbase.com. This helps ensure emails from Quickbase are not misinterpreted as malicious or spam.
Not all email clients include the user email in the send address. For example, Outlook does not show the user's email; it only displays notify.quickbase.com. However, even in these email clients, the Reply To value is updated.
Updates to the Reply To value in the email
If someone replies to an email, the Reply To value dictates where that reply is sent.
When you change the default send address to a user, the Reply To value is updated to that user's email address. You cannot edit or change this behavior, and the Reply To value is updated even if the username is not displayed in the sending address.
